Day 4

St Remy to Eygalieres (7 miles)

The countryside east of Saint-Remy is dominated by the Alpilles (small Alps), a scenic small mountain range with a maximum altitude of 350m (1100 ft.). At the monastery of Saint-Paul de Mausole we hit the trail that will take us on the crest of the Alpilles to Eygalieres where we will stay the night. We follow on a narrow path which is impressive but not so complicated. Wonderful 360° view. Eygalieres is a pretty village between the mountain and the plain. A "one horse town" with some cozy outdoor cafes, typical Provençal shops and high quality restaurants. A short walk uphill (along the church) will bring us to a chapel ruin with bell tower from where there will be a great panorama view. If time, we will visit the remarkable Chapel of Sainte Sixte and its cypress trees. A short and easy option takes us on a path along the vineyards. Accommodations at the Hotel La Bastide d'Eygalieres (B/D)

Hotel La Bastide d’Eygalieres: In this corner of authentic Provence which lies between Arles, Avignon and Aix en Provence, you will find the regional natural park of the Alpilles. At the heart of this park nestles the small unspoiled village of Eygalières. And at the edge of this village, in the middle of the Garrigue, you will discover La Bastide d´Eygalières where the warm welcome, the comfort and the tranquility will enchant you.
