Menorca, Spain
May 22-29, 2027

Overview of Menorca
Enjoy cliffside yoga, coastal hikes, bird watching, and quiet coves you can reach by kayak or paddleboard, all paired with meals rooted in Menorca’s locally sourced cuisine. Though Mallorca often takes the spotlight, its smaller sister remains an unspoiled refuge—just one-fifth the size with a population of about 100,000—where June brings comfortable 60–80°F days and soft Mediterranean breezes that make time outdoors feel effortless.
One of Menorca’s great treasures is the Camí de Cavalls, a 115-mile (185-kilometer) trail circling the island through remote beaches, dramatic cliffs, forests, and open farmlands. Once a 14th-century military route, it now offers a remarkable way to move through the island’s varied landscapes and appreciate its deep sense of place. Along the way, you’ll encounter the island’s enduring traditions—from Mahón cheese and sobrassada to handcrafted Abarca sandals and local jewelry—as you reconnect with nature and yourself on this unforgettable retreat.

Reviews
"Thank you so much for this beautiful trip to Menorca. It was so nice to travel with a small group and get to know everyone, plus two drivers for flexibility and comfort. The hikes were beautiful, the kayak ride really fun, and the cider house very interesting and special for local flavor. I also appreciated the planning of all the meals and menus---excellent food throughout the trip."

Itinerary
Day 1
Fly to Mahon, Menorca (MAH)
Book a flight that allows you to arrive in Menorca by May 23, 2027.

Day 2
Arrival; Transfer to Hotel (D)
From Menorca Airport (MAH), it’s a 30-minute drive to Artiem Audax Hotel. The driver will meet you on arrival if pre-arranged. If you reach the hotel before check-in (15:00), you may store luggage at reception and enjoy the hotel grounds or the nearby white-sand beach at Cala Galdana. In the evening, we gather for a welcome dinner and review our plans for the coming days. Overnight: Artiem Audax Cala Galdana**** Artiem Audax Cala Galdana is a contemporary adults-only hotel overlooking one of Menorca’s most beautiful bays. With its clean-lined architecture and soft coastal palette, it offers a calm, modern retreat just steps from the turquoise waters of Cala Galdana. The hotel features a spa with thermal circuit, rooftop terrace, and restaurants emphasizing Mediterranean flavors and healthy, locally sourced cuisine.

Day 3
Hike Cala Galdana to Cala Turqueta (4 miles); Sideria (B/L)
An optional wellness session is available at the resort from 8:00-9:00 including mobility, yoga, pilates, HIIT, etc. (consult the daily schedule). At ~10:00 we begin our walk from the hotel along one of the most scenic sections of the Camí de Cavalls. The path threads through pine-shaded stretches and low coastal cliffs, revealing the white-sand coves of Cala Macarella before continuing to Cala en Turqueta. After the hike, we transfer about ten minutes inland to a working cider house (Sidreria Kane) set among orchards in the countryside. Our host, David, welcomes us with an introduction to the 17th-century property, including views of the historic defensive tower and chapel. He guides us through the farm and explains his traditional cider-making process: harvesting the apples by hand, pressing them manually, and bottling during the waning moon, a practice rooted in Celtic tradition. We sit down to a farm-to-table lunch paired with artisanal cider, cider sangria and seasonal products from the garden. After lunch, we return to the hotel, with the afternoon free to relax by the sea or enjoy the hotel facilities. For those who prefer to stay active, bicycles and kayaks are available for hire through the hotel’s sports club and experience desk. Overnight: Artiem Audax Cala Galdana****

Day 4
Hike Cala en Bosch to Cala Blanca (3 miles); Lithica Quarry; Ciutadella; (B/L/D)
An optional wellness session is available at the resort from 8:00-9:00. We leave in the mid-morning for the start of our coastal walk from Cala en Bosc to Cala Blanca, following a gentle section of the Camí de Cavalls with views of turquoise coves and pale limestone cliffs. After lunch in Cala Blanca, we continue to Lithica, a former stone quarry thoughtfully reshaped into a maze of gardens and sculptural spaces. We then head to Ciutadella, where you have time to wander its historic streets and browse boutiques and artisan shops. City sights include Cathedral of Menorca, a 14th-century Gothic cathedral set on the former site of a mosque; Plaça des Born, the principal square framed by palaces and the obelisk commemorating the 1558 Ottoman siege; and Castell de Sant Nicolau, a 17th-century defensive tower guarding the harbor entrance. We will have a group dinner together. Overnight: Artiem Audax Cala Galdana****

Day 5
Hike Favàritx to Es Grau (~5.5 miles); Kayaking; (B/L)
An optional wellness session is available at the resort from 8:00-9:00. Today we explore Menorca’s rugged northeastern coast by foot and kayak. We depart at ~9:00 for the drive to the trailhead, then hike from Cap de Favàritx to Es Grau (~3 hours), crossing open coastal terrain and passing Cala Tortuga within the protected landscapes of S'Albufera des Grau Natural Park, an important habitat for migratory birds. We end in Es Grau, where we stop for lunch. After lunch, we set out on a 2.5-hour kayaking excursion across the calm, clear waters of the reserve, exploring beaches and coves around Isla Colom and Sa Torreta. The excursion offers a comprehensive view of Menorca’s protected coastline from both land and sea. We return to the resort by early evening. Overnight: Artiem Audax Cala Galdana****

Day 6
Hike Es Grau to Sa Mesquida (3.5 miles); Boat Excursion; Mahón (B/L)
An optional wellness session is available at the resort from 8:00-9:00. At ~9:30 we depart for the trailhead near Es Grau. The trail winds through pine woods and sandy coves before reaching Sa Mesquida. After the hike, we transfer to the Mahon harbor to board our chartered boat. We have lunch aboard the boat, with time for stand up paddling and snorkeling if the weather is favorable. In the late afternoon we return to the harbor. You’ll have time to explore Mahón. Menorca’s capital is known for elegant Georgian architecture and a vast natural harbor. The Port of Mahón stretches nearly three miles inland and is lined with cafés, shops, and restored warehouses that house galleries and restaurants. You can stroll the harbor promenade, stop at the covered market Mercat del Claustre del Carme—set within a former Carmelite cloister and the town’s main food market for artisanal products—or visit Mercat des Peix for tapas. Mahón is widely believed to be the birthplace of mayonnaise—originally called mahonesa—named after the city following its popularization during the 18th-century Seven Years' War. Additional highlights include the Church of Santa Maria and the Museum of Menorca, housed in a former Franciscan convent. We return to Cala Galdana when you have had your fill of shopping and sightseeing. Overnight: Artiem Audax Cala Galdana****

Day 7
Horse Riding or Hiking Cala Pilar to Binimel·là (5.5 miles); (B/D)
Choose between horseback riding or hiking along Menorca’s wild northern coast. We leave at 8:30 to take the horse riders at the stables for a safety briefing. The ride is ~1.5 hours following a scenic stretch of the Camí de Cavalls through pine woods and open coastal terrain. Meanwhile the hikers will be transferred to the start of the hike from Cala Pilar to Binimel·là, a striking section of trail that crosses red-sand coves and dramatic cliffs. The rest of the day is free to relax. We will meet for a goodbye dinner. Overnight: Artiem Audax Cala Galdana****

Day 8
Tour End – (B)
Enjoy breakfast at the resort. It is a 30 minute drive from the hotel to Menorca Airport.

Christine Klotz
Christine Klotz, MPH, from Indianapolis, has spent the past 20 years living nomadically, balancing her work as an international public health professional in refugee camps around the world with a passion for long-distance walking that has taken her thousands of miles across more than 100 countries. Despite having walked many caminos on mainland Spain, the unique energy and astounding beauty of Menorca's Camí de Cavalls almost tempted her to stop traveling and put down roots on the island. She is continually looking ahead to her next adventure, guided by the belief: “It’s a beautiful world, and I look forward to exploring it with you, one step at a time.”

Leticia Troyas Martínez
Leticia Troyas Martínez is from Falces, a small town near Pamplona in northern Spain. Walking is one of the most meaningful parts of her life—a way to connect with herself, others, and the world around her. She has journeyed on foot across Spain, Italy, and Portugal along pilgrimage routes such as the Camino de Santiago and the Via Francigena, drawn by a deep curiosity and a love for both nature and culture. She has also lived in Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam at different points in her life. Leticia has worked as a guide on both the Camino and the Francigena, offering transportation, massage services, and stretching sessions to clients. She is currently studying exercise science at the University of Pamplona, with the goal of becoming a physical education instructor for children. Earlier in her career, she worked as a hairdresser in major cities such as London, Madrid, and Milan. But what truly inspires her now is movement—physical, emotional, and spiritual. For Leticia, life is about growing, evolving, and learning—becoming a little more herself with every step.
