Traveling to Cusco, Peru, and the Sacred Valley was a truly transformative experience—one that nourished both body and soul. The journey began in the historic city of Cusco, where the vibrant culture and ancient Incan architecture set the stage for the days ahead. Surrounded by cobblestone streets and rich history, we acclimated to the altitude and soaked in the energy of this sacred region before heading into the heart of the valley.
Our home for the week was Wilka T’ika, a stunning wellness retreat nestled in the Sacred Valley. Surrounded by the majestic Andes, Wilka T’ika offered a peaceful haven where the
connection to nature and spirit was deeply felt. The resort’s lush Chakra Gardens, bursting with color and carefully designed for reflection and renewal, provided a serene space for relaxation, meditation, and yoga.

Throughout our stay, we took part in ancient Andean rituals, including a powerful sweat lodge ceremony and an unforgettable fire ceremony led by a local shaman. These experiences provided a profound sense of cleansing, grounding, and connection to the
region's spiritual traditions. Mealtimes were another highlight—each dish a vibrant, organic, and vegetarian celebration of the local harvest, prepared with love and intention. The group could not get enough of the freshly baked rolls and local churned butter. The tea bar was also a favorite, where you could use a mix of muna and coca tea bags, with fresh ginger, honey, lime, and dried hibiscus leaves.
We also ventured out to explore the Incan legacy, visiting sacred sites and temples that echoed with centuries of wisdom and reverence. The pinnacle of our journey was the awe-inspiring visit to Machu Picchu. Standing amidst the clouds in one of the world’s most iconic wonders, I felt a profound sense of peace, humility, and gratitude.
While in the Sacred Valley, we had the opportunity to visit an Andean Mountain School. The experience provided deep insight into the resilience, culture, and spirit of the people who live on these remote regions. Nestled high in the Andes, around 10,000 feet, these
schools serve as vital centers for education, community, and hope in otherwise isolated villages. The children greeted us with warm smiles and curiosity, dressed in traditional Andean clothing - bright ponchos, woolen hats, and sandals. Despite limited resources, the
classroom atmosphere was one of enthusiasm and dedication. What stood out the most was the strong sense of community and respect for tradition. The children often contributed to their families’ farms before and after school, showing a deep connection to the land and a strong work ethic. This visit highlighted how even the most remote communities are filled with dreams, determination, and the hope of a better future through learning.
This trip was more than a vacation—it was a journey of the heart, filled with beauty, connection, and healing. My time in the Sacred Valley reminded me of the power of stillness, the richness of ancient wisdom, and the importance of nurturing both the body and spirit. I look forward to leading a trip back to Wilka T’ika in May 2027.
