Finding Peace in an Unsettled World

In a world that often feels chaotic and unpredictable, finding peace can seem like an impossible pursuit. The constant noise — from global conflicts, personal struggles, and the relentless pace of modern life — can leave us feeling unmoored. And yet, peace isn’t always about escaping the storm; sometimes, it’s about learning how to ground ourselves within it. I hope to share what it means to seek stillness amid uncertainty, and how small, intentional practices can help us reclaim a sense of calm, clarity, and resilience.
The noise isn’t just from headlines or social media; it’s the way our thoughts race before bed, the sense of disconnection we feel even in a crowded room, or the pressure to hold it all together when the world feels like it’s falling apart. I’ve felt that myself — the quiet moments when anxiety creeps in, uninvited and loud. Peace isn’t found through controlling everything — but often through surrendering to what is.
Practices That Anchor Us:
Daily breathwork or meditation
Yoga or mindful movement
Nature walks
Journaling
Limiting news/media intake
Spiritual prayer, such as the Serenity Prayer:
“GOD, grant me the Serenity to accept the things I cannot change, Courage to change the things I can; and the Wisdom to know the difference”.
Most mornings now, I sit up in bed, close my eyes, pray, and simply breathe. Ten to fifteen minutes is all it takes, but it reminds me: I’m here, I’m safe, and I am grateful for all the good in my life.
Two activities that always bring me balance and calmness, of course, are practicing yoga five to six times a week and hiking three to five miles each day.
Remember, peace is not a destination but a practice—a choice we make moment by moment. Peace doesn’t mean I never get rattled; it means I recognize when I do, and I return---again---to the breath, to presence, to grace. It’s a practice of remembering.
In choosing peace, I’ve found space to listen more deeply, to speak more gently, and to love more fully — even when the world outside is still unsettled. Maybe peace isn’t about escape, but about returning to ourselves, to each other, and to what really matters.
After all, love is our greatest currency and our greatest power. Let LOVE be your mantra and you will find peace.
Until next month…
The light and love in me honors the light and love in each one of you. Namaste!

What is a Pilgrimage Walk?
A pilgrimage walk is a long journey to a sacred or spiritually significant destination. It's not just a hike--it's a journey with spiritual, personal, or cultural meaning. Many people walk for religious reasons, seeing connection with God or the divine. Others walk for healing, transformation, or to process life changes (i.e., grief, burnout, or personal crossroads). Pilgrims also walk for the challenge and the adventure. A pilgrimage is truly life changing.
