Reflections on the Space Between

What can be found in the space between where you are now, and where you want to go? We live most of our lives here between the weight of the past and the promise of the future. And yet we often try to escape the messy middle whenever it arrives. Why?
BECAUSE ITS UNCOMFORTABLE. To not “be” yet, to not “know” yet, to not feel free to exist yet.
Here’s the problem - once we reach where we want to go, we often are focused on what is next. We never really reach the finish line. So how can we better accept where we are now while keeping focus on our dreams and goals? Finding your calm and seeing the value in this part of your journey is where true creation can be found.
What does it really mean to be in the now?
You don’t have the title yet
You don’t have the income yet
You don’t have the partner yet
You haven’t lost the weight yet
Whatever your goal, you will spend most of your life in the space between. So what does this mean?
IT MEANS FREEDOM. Freedom to choose how you show up, to make mistakes, to practice, to learn, to dream, to create, to try new things, to expand, to rest, to give yourself whatever you need without expectation. There are endless opportunities to discover the beauty in the space between.
How can you step out of the future you that you want to be? Do you hear your mind trying to figure it all out? Can you be a witness to that internal dialogue? What if you gave yourself permission to step off the mental treadmill you’ve been on? What might you find if you allow yourself to rest, reflect, and embrace where you are today?
WHAT IS LIVING FOR “FUTURE YOU” ACTUALLY COSTING “PRESENT YOU”?
JOURNAL PROMPT:
Write about one thing you are striving toward. Notice the level of urgency you have around that goal. How does that urgency show up?
Does it take over your thoughts - do you get lost in dreaming, wishing, fearing?
Does it take over your body - is it a tension in your belly or a tightness in your neck?
Observe how your present is being impacted by the perception of the future you wish to have.
Now, write a list of all the possible ways you are benefiting by not being “future you” yet.
Maybe you have more time because you don’t have that job yet.
Maybe you have less stress because you don’t have the big home you want.
Maybe you find the space to find healing and wholeness because you are still single.
Maybe you learn to love your body in all shapes and sizes.
Whatever the scenario, I promise you there is GOLD to be found where you are now.
What has shifted in you after listing all the benefits of your current situation? Did the tension in your body lessen? Did your thoughts slow? Did you experience a change in energy or an urge to move your body? Did your outlook or mood shift?
HOW MIGHT LIVING IN THE NOW ACTUALLY GET YOU CLOSER TO WHAT YOU WANT IN YOUR FUTURE?
This is not a practice of just looking on the bright side. This is a powerful shift in the way you live each day. Finding meaning and value in what IS. Radical acceptance breeds surrender around the perceived need for control in our lives.
This is the power of Mindfulness.
This is the foundation of Attraction - where planning, preparing, and force are no longer needed.
Remember, the present moment is not empty space. It is where the potential for real transformation exists. Try it out today, I can’t wait to hear what you find.
